Was searching Walmart and found this rifle in a .270. I've been reading reviews I can find and it seems most everyone likes this one.
Price doesn't seem to bad, and is quite lower than almost anywhere else.

Here's a linky link http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4756313

Think I might go look tomorrow,,or now...lol

This seems to be a good all around deer gun, with a longer range than a 30/30, so it would come in handy for a longer shot. Also the .270 appears to have a flatter flight path as well.

I don't know that maker or model, but I know that a .270 will get the job done. I have killed deer from 10 yards to 400 yards.

The only problem that you may have is finding a WallyWorld that sells firearms. I don't think that either one in Fredericksburg cary any firearms. You may need to call around to find one.

I don't know if you have looked at Gander mt. but they sell used guns and do trades and all that crap, so they may have a good deal there.

I'm not too knowledgeable on rifles, but it seems for a lower priced good gun, Savage Arms has a pretty good reputation, I think. And they've been around forever. Looked at Walmart on-line gun pages & saw several rifle/scope combos from them available for about the same range, maybe a little more. Might be worth comparing.

I haven't looked for guns when I've been to Walmart in CP, but they used to have a gun case right by the counter?

I hadn't hear of this brand until today, but the comparisons I've read give it a thumbs up!

And they were compared closely with the Savage of the same caliber.

Howa makes the Vangaurd for Weatherby. I have one of the older Vangaurd VGX .270?s, it is flawless, and extremely accurate. The Howa labeled guns just don?t have a fancy stock and all the ones I have seen have a matt finish (I think the newer Weatherby?s also have a matt finish) otherwise they are identical to the Vangaurd. Howa has been around for a while and is considered a very high quality rifle. I believe the have made some guns for Browning also .

Cuz, I have the same gun in a 7mm version. It is great. The only reason I got the 7mm is I already own a .270, .35, 30-30, 25-06, 30-06, 44 carbine. and It was the caliber I was missing. I think you will enjoy it.
