Just wondering if anyone had any luck yesterday? Good or bad, I sure would like to hear it all!! As I said before I'm not hunting this season because of a herniated disc, but the passion is still there! C'mon man, throw me a bone. Let's hear how your day went.

Well I didn't make it out, looks like I am sidelined for at least the rest of rifle season at Phelps, which is the only spot I hunt. I came down with some respitory thing last Tuesday and haven't been out of the house since. Just walking up my stairs tires me out. Maybe I will make it out for late archery but my stand is in the middle of my front room cause I can't pick it up.

Hey, I wouldn't chance something like that. I hope you go get that looked at!! It sounds serious. Maybe next year it will be a good one for the both of us seeing as how the season has'nt quite meet up to normal standards!! I know that's how I'm looking at it. The bucks I haven't taken are only going to be bigger next year!

Hey Ranger,

I was out at Phelps on the 21st. Didnt see a thing other than alot of hunters passing through until later in the day. On the way back in I decided to Skirt the roads back to the parking lot. Came across a couple of does. In my haste and pathetic shooting skills missed a doe high. On a positive note I did hear quite a few turkeys calling out in the morning. May head out in Dec to see if I can locate them deliberately.

Good luck on bagging one of those birds! I'm glad to see that they are starting to come back into the area. For a while there after the Tornado hit in the Spring of 2007( May 8th) I thought the birds were gone for good! Now I've heard a couple of hunters say they've spotted Turkeys in Phelps, and I personally witnessed a flock of Hens durring scouting right before archery started, so that's some encouraging news!!
If you're going to hunt Phelps after general firearms goes out and late archery comes in just be prepared for hearing allot of Beagles!! The guys who hunt rabbits with dogs really hunt Phelps hard at that time. It has always seemed to me that Rabbit hunters stay on the roads when they hunt, so if you can set up deeper into the woods you might have a chance? Hope you bag one or two!!
